Jesuit Priest Theodore “Ted” Gabrielli arrested for sexual abuse

According to a report this week in CalCoastNews, Father Theodore Gabrielli, SJ, also known as Ted Gabrielli, was arrested on June 12, 2025, by San Luis Obispo County Sheriff deputies based on allegations he sexually abused three children under the age of 14 between 1991 and 1999. The allegations include oral copulation and sodomy. He is currently being held without bail pending arraignment on July 8.

According to the initial report, Gabrielli worked with churches and schools in San Jose, Los Gatos and Los Angeles, including Most Holy Trinity Parish in San Jose, Dolores Mission in Los Angeles and Social Ministries in Los Gatos.

Gabrielli appears to be a current member of the Board of Directors at Loyola High School in Los Angeles. His photo and bio appeared on their website until June of this year, though they appear to have been removed recently, perhaps in response to his arrest. The following text appears with his now-removed bio on the Loyola HS website:

“Fr. Gabrielli, SJ worked in Most Holy Trinity Parish in San Jose and then Dolores Mission in Los Angeles. Five years of pastoral ministry brought Ted to Los Gatos to be Provincial Assistant for Social Ministries and then Provincial Assistant for International Ministries. While working in that capacity, Ted returned to Most Holy Trinity Parish to be religious superior of the Jesuit Community and to serve the members of the parish. Recently returned to Dolores Mission, Ted is the religious superior of the Jesuit Community, Pastor at the parish, and continues as Provincial Assistant for International Ministries. Ted enjoys working with Jesuits from around the world, hanging out at Homeboy Industries and Homegirl Cafe, and spending time with the people of Dolores Mission-in the Plaza, in the neighborhood, or on Peace walks throughout our community.”
