1971
Father James Robsinson was ordained in 1971 to the Archdiocese of Birmingham, one of the most severely burdened by clerical abuse in England. However, recent reports suggest that he had been engaging in inappropriate activity with underage boys before he entered seminary and even during his formation as well as post-ordination.
1980
Reports have discovered that from 1959-1983, Father James had been involving himself with young boys as young as 10 years old.
1985
His first case of child sexual abuse was released in a letter sent form Birmingham, England Archdiocese in thier request for him to be exterened to the Los Angeles Archdiocese in 1985. The letter stated that their “immediate reason” for his leave was that he had recently met again “a man with whom he had an unwholesome relationship about 13 years ago”, presuming that he had indeed started his occupation as a priest treacherously. He was transferred to the Los Angeles Archdiocese that same year.
1987
From 1987-1988, he held a position at Annunciation Church in Arcadia, CA.
1990
In 1990, he reappeared at Holy Angels Church in Arcadia, CA.
1991
From 1991-1992 Father James resided at St. Catherine Labour Church where he worked with John O’Byrne who is also that have been accused of child abuse. Thomas J. Curry, the former Vicar for Clergy for the Archdiocese was also working with him at this time.
1993
In 1993, he moved to a new assignment at St. Mel Church in Woodland Hills.
1994
After 1993, nothing was heard from him until a BBC journalist tracked him down in 2003 to question him of said accusations, which was when the Los Angeles Archdiocese learned of his lude acts. Los Angeles church authorities immediately rescinded his faculties and attempted to return him to England, however he disappeared.
2009
In 2009, Robinson returned to Birmingham and was confronted by a victim. He left Birmingham unnoticed by authorities and returned to the U.S. where he lived as a fugitive.
2010
In 2010 he was extradited to the U.K. for the abuse of six boys. In October of 2010 he was sentenced to 21 charges of child abuse.
